Top 5 Things I Wouldn't Have Admitted to a Year Ago.

Everyone has things about himself or herself that he or she knows are true but don't necessarily want anyone else to know. Movies, likes, dislikes...you name it, we all have them. Here are my Top 5 Things I Never Would Have Admitted To A Year Ago.

1. My favorite movie is The Sound Of Music.
2. My favorite song is Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers.
3. I think that most female news anchors are sexy.
4. Sometimes, I pee sitting down.
5. I would rather have good wine than good beer.

Explanation:

The Sound of Music is an amazing film. If you don't like this film, I don't like you. Plain and simple. Julie Andrews is incredibly sexy in this film and there's something exciting about the way that she rallies those kids. Honestly, how is this any different than most sports movies? People facing adversity find inspiration from a somewhat unlikely source. They wind up stronger than they were to begin with and in the end, we all learn that you cannot fight being yourself. You have to embrace who you are and where you came from, regardless of what circumstances have caused you to become. Classic.

Unchained Melody is the single best song ever written. The hurt, the love, the passion. It's all so real and all so raw. Plus, it's awesome to sing. Try it. Also, we have all felt the way that those guys do at some point in our lives. If you haven't, get some therapy. Quickly. Because you, my lost-souled friend, are withdrawn and feeling-less. Just sayin'.

Women that know things are sexy. Plain and simple. And let's be real, perception is reality. If it looks like they know something, regardless of the teleprompter, they know it. And the best part? They knew it before me. If for no other reason than someone told them. If someone tells them something before they tell me, they knew it first. And they are teaching it to me. And they do so with vigor and with a well faked passion for what they are saying. Plus, some of them are just flat out gorgeous. Even better, 90% of them are on CNN. Christi Paul, Brooke Anderson, and ESPECIALLY Linda Stouffer. These women would be beautiful if it weren't for their news readings, but the fact that they say it like they mean it...that makes them sexy.

This is simple really. I am lazy. And sometimes, since I am a comfort junky, this is the best option. Especially in the AM. I'm groggy, tired, generally pissed off at being awake, and the last thing that I want to do is stand there when I could be sitting. Guys, don't act like you don't do this sometimes.

Good wine is one of the best things in life. There's so much there. Depth, body, taste, emotions and familiarity with the smells. A good wine can evoke some emotion. There is no beer I have ever had that does that. The closest thing? When I am at a bar and they have Killians on draught, I think of my father and our routine before Cavaliers games. That means a lot. But a good bottle of wine? That makes me think of family vacations, friends, and most importantly, the things that all of that means. Any time that a glass half full of something makes you think of all of those things, it's important. Plus, the idea of a glass being half full and able to satisfy me is something optimistic. And in today's world of cynicism and negativity, that's something special whether it's symbolic or not.

As far as The Sound of Music goes, I guess you're gonna have to not like me. I just remember being forced to watch it in third grade and thinking that it was utter crap. Maybe it deserves a second chance. Regardless, there's a gay movie theater in San Francisco that has sing-along showings, and they just had a week's worth for The Sound of Music. You should have visited (and you could have hit up wine country).

I always pee standing up, if I'm only going to pee, unless I'm there to take care of more business, in which case I do it sitting down. It doesn't make sense to get in the position to pee standing up and then have to go sit down afterward. Save time and do it all in one motion!

Those first two indicate you are an old soul in a young body. LOL

Female news anchors ... my husband sure has his faves. I'll be ready to change the channel and he'll say, "hold on just a second, I want to hear this" ... yeah, right. (BTW, I had to look up all of your faves ... I didn't know a one.) I don't think there are nearly as many great looking male news anchors, but I still generally find knowledgeable, confident men sexy.

Peeing ... God, I am glad I am not a man. If I ever had to pee standing up, I would not be happy ... discounting different body parts. (My hubby pees sitting down in the middle of the night or when he's sick.)

Never was a beer drinker. Love all the choices with wine and the complexities. Not a wine connoisseur by any means, but it's fun drinking and learning!

LOVE LOVE LOVE The Sound Of Music. LOVE IT!!!

Unchained Melody is nice but remindes of me my mom and this guy she dated once so I'm not all that crazy about it.

Brains are powerful, yes? My husbands news anchor crush is Robin Meade. I must admit, she's hot.

It seems like it would be so much easier to stand and pee but whatever. My husband does it too. I just don't get it!

I love wine! I dated a guy once who worked at a French returaunt with an award winning wine list. I got to try all kinds of swanky stuff for practically nothing because he got it at cost. (do you realize the mark up on wine can be as high as 300%) So I leaned a lot and how to appreciate. Those were fun times! But I do like a good beer too. Great Lakes has lots of nice ones. I know you like the Dorthmunder. You should take a tour of the brewery if you never have. I also like Blue Moon. It's nice how it tastes totally different with a slice of orange. Killians on draught is nice, had one a week or so ago and got real excited about it!

Seriously, JPD, I think you're my long lost soul mate!

I used to like unchained melody, but i am sick of it now because of you and your father. especially when you both try to hit that high note.

THANK YOU FOR CALLING ME SEXY!!!!!!

**There is no reason to tell everyone your bathroom habits, especially when they know you and I are related. TMI**

Finally, I am admitting to nothing.

I was behind on comments. nance got on me about it...here i am.

Mikey - I watched it in third grade as well. loved it then. still do. watch in on your own volition and see if that helps.

i would have been singing my lungs out, by the way.

GFFE-- the best part of wine is learning what you like and finding out about all the different types. no need to be an officianado, just find out what you like, then find out ABOUT what you like. also, the drunk part is fun.

Nina-- we may well be soulmates. negative associations with songs are something i certainly understand these days, however, this one endures despite all that.

nance - first of all, how dare you? TRY to hit the hight note? fail. WE DOMINATE ANY AND ALL HIGH NOTES!

several of my friends would, and have, say that you are sexy. however, since you ARE my mother, its more of a role model power thing than anything...obviously.

also, i will share whatever bathroom habits i want. including that i sometimes refuse to "take care of business" at school unless someone else is going to. then we can chat. there. there's a bathroom habit.
